Karachi halwa (Bombay halwa)


Ingredients:

1. Corn flour - 1 cup

2. Water - 2 cups

3. Sugar - 1 cup

4. Water - 1 cup

5. Cashews - 10

6. Ghee - 3 tbsp

Preparation method:

1. Take a bowl, add corn flour. Add double the quantity of water and mix it to make sure there are no lumps.

2. In a vessel, add water and sugar to make sugar syrup.

3. Take a non stick pan, without turning on gas, add ghee and corn flour water to it.

4. Turn on the gas now and keep stirring it as corn flour sticks to the bottom quickly.

5. Once it turns little thick, add 2 tbsp sugar syrup and keep mixing.

6. Add sugar water little by little and keep mixing. If corn flour paste is getting hard then turn off the gas and then add sugar syrup. Make sure to keep stirring it.

7. Add 1 tbsp ghee and stir it for 2 mins.

8. Add one more tbsp ghee and keep stirring.

9. Add little color, yellow or orange and mix it properly.

10. Once all ghee gets incorporated, turn off the gas. Add chopped cashews and mix it well.

11. Immediately put the mixture in any vessel to set it. Do not wait as it will start setting immediately.

12. Keep it in the fridge for 1 hour and take it out and cut into square shapes. Garnish with flax seeds.
