Raw mango dal


Ingredients:

1. Toor dal - 1 small cup

2. Salt to taste

3. curry leaves - 1 spring

4. Raw mango - 1 small

5. Mustard and cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

6. Green chilies - 2

7. Garlic - 2-3 cloves

8. Chopped onion -1 small

9. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tbsp

Preparation method:

1. Ideally the raw mango for mando dal should be sour. So just taste a small piece of it to check sourness.

2. Boil dal in a cooker with 4 whistles.

3. Meanwhile peel mango and cut it into small pieces.

4. Boil the pieces of mango for 10 mins in water.

5. Now add the boiled mangoes to the cooker with dal and give 1 whistle.

6. For tempering, take a pan, add oil to it.

7. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and let then splutter. 8. Add garlic and chopped green chilies. Let them fry for 2 mins.

9. Add curry leaves and chopped onions. Let them fry for 5 mins.

10. Add red chilly powder and fry it for a min.

11. Add dal with raw mango and let it boil for 7-10 mins on slow flame. Serve hot with rice.
