Fish pulusu

Ingredients:

1. Fish - 500 gms (Cut into small to medium pieces).

2. Salt around 1 tbsp for marination or as per taste.

3. Red chilly powder - 3-4 tbsp for marination

4. lemon juice or oil - 3 tbsp

5. Onions - 3 big - finely chopped

6. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp

7. Tomatoes - 2 - chopped

8. Tamarind juice - 2 cups

9. Coriander leaves - chopped

Preparation method:

1. Take a bowl, add fish pieces to it. Add turmeric powder and salt. Wash it with water properly.

2. Once fish is clean, make small gashes on fish pieces , add salt and red chilly powder to it to marinate fish. Add little lemon juice or oil for better results.

3. Keep it in fridge for 2 hours. ( You can start cooking immediately as well, but it will soak salt and red chilly powder if kept in fridge).

4. After 2 hours take them out of the fridge. Take a pan , add oil to it and add fish pieces. Fry fish for 15-20 mins on slow flame on both sides to make sure it holds the spices and does not break. (Do not fry it fully as it has to get cooked in curry as well.)

5. Now in a wide mouth vessel, add oil.

6. Once its hot, add chopped onions and let them fry till brown.

7. Add ginger garlic paste and fry till its brown.

8. Now add chopped tomatoes to it. Cover it and let it cook for 15-20 mins till its mashed up.

9. Now add 2-3 tbsp of red chilly powder depending on your spice preferences. Fry it for 10 mins.

10. Add salt according to the taste.

11. Now add tamarind juice to it.

12. Once it comes to boil, add fried fish pieces to it. Cover it and let it cook for 20 mins on slow flame. The quantity of tamarind juice should be enough to dip all fish pieces into it. So if its less depending on sourness add tamarind juice or water to it.

13. Add chopped coriander leaves. Don't stir or mix fish pieces as they may break. Just move them little bit in the gravy.

14. Once it cooked , garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
