Bitter gourd pulusu


Ingredients:

1. Bitter guard - 500 gms - finely chopped into small pieces.

2. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

3. Green chilies - 3

4. Onions - 1 big - chopped

5. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

6. Tomatoes - 2 medium chopped

7. Salt to taste

8. Red chilly powder - 1 and half tbsp

9. Tamarind juice - 1 and half cup.

Preparation method:

1. Take a cooker, add 4-5 tbsp of oil to it.

2. Add cumin seeds and green chilies.

3. Add chopped onions and let them fry till golden brown.

4. Add ginger garlic paste and let it fry till it turns brown.

5. Now add chopped bitter guard and salt. Cover it and let it cook for 15-20 mins. Bitter guard should be properly fried till it turns slight brown and keep stirring in between.

6. Add red chilly powder and fry it for 5 mins properly.

7.Add chopped tomatoes and cover the cooker with lid again. Keep stirring in between and let tomatoes get cooked till they are mashed up.

8. Add tamarind juice to it now. Depending on sourness you prefer add more tamarind juice or add water accordingly.

9. Check with salt and cover the cooker with lid. Give it 2 whistles.

10. Serve hot with rice or roti.
